As Wojciech Szczesny this week spoke to Juventus’ official channels, he brought Arsenal into the conversation.

In quotes relayed by TuttoMercatoWeb, the goalkeeper mentioned the Gunners when speaking about his current haircut.

It all started with Szczesny being asked why he’s always perfectly combed.

The goalkeeper then revealed it was Mikel Arteta who first tried to give him some advice back at Arsenal, even though that didn’t work well for him.

“I tell a nice anecdote. At Arsenal I played with Arteta and he was hitting the ball with his head without his hair dishevelling. So I asked him what he put on it and he said nothing. I touched it and it looked like a rock,” Szczesny told Juventus’ social media.

“Then I went to Roma and grew my hair. Spalletti asked me: ‘Why do you always fix your hair when you concede goals?’ I told him it went over my eyes and I couldn’t see (laughs, ed.). Then he said, ‘Put something on or cut it off’. I did both, now it always stays neat.”

Szczesny joined Arsenal back in 2006, when moving from Legia Warschau’s academy. In his years with the Gunners, he made 181 appearances, keeping 72 clean sheets.

It was in 2015 that he first left Arsenal, loaned to AS Roma for a couple of seasons. With the Giallorossi not finding a deal with the Gunners for a permanent transfer, Juventus took advantage of the situation, and in the summer of 2017, they spent €18m to get him signed.

That ended up being a bit of a bargain for the Old Lady, as Szczesny currently has 222 appearances for the club.
