A story about Tottenham Hotspur defender Cristian Romero is doing the rounds in the Argentine media this week.

That comes from ESPN, who are releasing a documentary on the anniversary of Argentina’s World Cup title.

The outlet is now releasing some parts of Emiliano Martinez’s long interviews, and one of the stories he had to tell was about the Tottenham player.

The goalkeeper recalls that he thought Romero could have been sent off in the final against France, and he made clear that he wasn’t very pleased with the Spurs man at the time.

“I know Cuti’s weakness, I remember that in the final against France he went with both feet against Mbappé. He grabbed the ball, everything. And at half-time I grabbed him by the shirt and told him ‘they’re going to throw you out and I’ll mess you up after the game’,” said Martinez.

” I have to tell Cuti ‘please, stop hitting’. Cuti plays like that, on the edge of the red, and I’m always grabbing him in that sense.”

The Aston Villa star also told a funny story about Romero kicking him after a great save.

“Everyone hugged me and Cuti kicked me in the ribs, typical of Cuti. That’s his love, hitting. That’s where my World Cup began, there I felt that I didn’t care about the clean sheets, if we won 7 to 5. “

Argentina are still on honeymoon with their World Cup title, and ESPN are doing a great job by finding untold stories about that campaign.

The Tottenham player took part in all of the national team matches in the competition, and ended up being one of the faces of such an unforgettable title. It’s very possible that ESPN will soon show up with some quotes from him as well.
