Arsenal and Chelsea now seem to be standing out as contenders to sign Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting.

The freshest news on this pursuit is brought by Portuguese outlet Leonino, who feature an exclusive story on the player’s future.

The website starts by claiming that Arsenal and Chelsea are the ‘most recent’ clubs to become interested in the 25-year-old, along with Sevilla.

However, according to the outlet’s information, Gyokeres has no intention of leaving Sporting in the January transfer window.

It’s said the striker stands out for his constant effort at the club’s training facilities, as he’s always working hard to be available, whether it be related to his diet or his gym work. He’s said to be very focused on succeeding in his first year in Lisbon.

Gyokeres was signed in a €20m deal from Coventry City last summer, and has 15 goals and seven assists in 18 appearances so far.

Arsenal and Chelsea seem to be trying to get ahead of the competition for his signing, as it seems obvious there’ll be a race for him in the summer, while he’s protected by a €100m release clause.
