It’s no longer a secret after Manchester United announced it: Casemiro is leaving Real Madrid to head to Old Trafford.

However, before that happens, the La Liga side held a press conference where Florentino Pérez and co. were brought together to give the Brazilian a proper goodbye.

This is also a chance for the player to talk to the fans and his former teammates on a public platform ahead of his move to Manchester United.

Well, when it came to his time to talk, Casemiro struggled to hold back the tears, as shown by El Chiringuito on Twitter.

He said, relayed by Marca: “I will try to speak from the heart. I have won many titles but the greatest was when I go out every day to come to train. Thank God I have won titles, but with the help of my family, my wife who has given me two beautiful children To you, president. Thank you all very much.

“Thanks to my teammates, without them it wouldn’t have been possible. But I can’t stop talking about two: Modric and Kroos. I’ve really enjoyed playing football with them. One day I’m sure I’ll be back to continue helping this club”.

Manchester United, in dire need of reinforcements, threw the kitchen sink and then some at Real Madrid to convince them to sell their star midfielder.

This probably isn’t what the player had in mind when the summer started, but it seems the allure of playing in the Premier League and potentially turning fortunes around at Old Trafford was too good to pass up after winning everything at Real Madrid.

Either way, it’s clearly an emotional time for Casemiro, who will now turn his attention to Manchester United.
