Fiorentina have been urged to make a move for Edinson Cavani when he leaves Manchester United this summer.
That’s according to his former Napoli teammate Salvatore Aronica, who believes the Uruguayan would be the perfect fit at the Italian club.
Cavani is set to leave Manchester United in the summer when his current contract comes to an end, having fallen down the pecking order following Cristiano Ronaldo’s arrival at the club last summer.
He has been linked with moves all over the world as a result of his contract situation, with Barcelona, Juventus and even clubs in South America all considered viable options.
What he does remains to be seen, having proven during his time with Manchester United so far that he is more than capable of continuing to play at the elite level of the game despite his advancing years.
His former teammate, though, believes he should return to Serie A, where he scored 112 goals in 213 games for Napoli between 2006 and 2013.
“Edinson is a unique professional, and his numbers and qualities prove it. He has always been a model athlete, always careful about his diet, physical condition and private life. He has extraordinary calico skills,” he told Firenze Viola.
“The scariest thing is definitely the salary. At the moment, he travels on figures that are prohibitive for almost all Serie A clubs, Fiorentina would have to make a big economic effort, and at the same time, Cavani would have to come to the aid of the purple club.
“If I were Commisso, if there was even a chance of bringing the striker to Florence, I would take him immediately.
“At Fiorentina, he would be an added value for experience, curriculum and quality. Cavani is very different from Vlahovic, but given his form, he could give a lot to the Viola cause.
“The performance of the Viola at the end of the season has surprised me, but with Cavani, Florence could also aspire to return to the Champions League.”
