One day, Mauricio Pochettino will leave Tottenham.

The Argentine manager has never hidden his desire to try new adventures at some point in his career, with the Real Madrid job constantly being brought up in interviews and articles.

Still, despite all of this, Pochettino remains in London, and he’s trying his best to turn things around after a rather terrible start to the season that sees his team sit 14th in the Premier League after 12 games.

There’s been no indication the former Espanyol head coach is close to losing his job, but if he does, or eventually just leaves the club by mutual consent, he knows where he wants to go.

In an interview with Diario La Grada, Pochettino was asked if he would return to Spain to manager, and if the answer was yes, would he consider taking over at Espanyol again.

He answered: “Yes. Look, although you never know… We are latinos. I like this city, La Liga and I love this club. I am enjoying England very much, and I don’t know when or where, but I would love to return to Spain”.

As things stand, Pochettino is under contract until 2023 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, and it would probably be extremely costly for any interested side to prise him away from London.

Especially someone like Espanyol, and if he ever did return, it wouldn’t be via them buying out the rest of his deal.
