Manchester United loanee Alvaro Carreras is increasingly impressing at Benfica, where he’s now scored his first goal.
The fullback was very much praised for his performance in the 3-1 win over Farense last night, and BenficaTV made sure to interview him after the game.
In quotes brought by O Jogo, Carreras talked about the goal and his adaptation to his new club.
“We always want to win, do our best and today we did well, and I’m happy for the team and the goal,” said Carreras.
“I’m proud, I came here to help and do my best. I’ve been welcomed from the start. I just have to keep working. My teammates are doing their best to integrate me quickly.”
Back in January, Manchester United brought Carreras back from his loan at Granada, and ended up sending him to Benfica for a six-month spell.
The fullback has 12 appearances for the Eagles so far, and even though he’s not an undisputed starter, he’s been getting enough playing time for the Portuguese media to say that Benfica should buy him.
The big reason for that is that Benfica only have to pay Manchester United €6m to make the signing permanent, and it wouldn’t be a surprise if they even try to negotiate for a smaller price.
It’s also worth recalling that the Red Devils are reportedly interested in a couple of Eagles players, so he could end up involved in a bigger deal.
