Leandro Trossard has enjoyed a good spell at Brighton & Hove Albion in this calendar year.

The Belgium international finished the previous campaign by scoring against Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United. He has extended that run into this term, by finding the back of the net against Liverpool and Manchester City.

Trossard has seven goals and three assists to his name this season and his fine displays have seen him linked with a move away from Brighton.

Following Graham Potter’s decision to leave The Amex for Chelsea in September, the Blues have been regularly named as one of the 27-year-old’s main contenders. His form for the Seagulls has put him in the driving seat to start for De Rode Duivels at the 2022 World Cup.

Belgium manager Roberto Martínez has suggested the player could leave Brighton for a top club. Trossard is currently with the national team, where he was specifically asked about the suggestion made by the coach.

“I don’t really know what step I should take. You also have to get the chance to show yourself at that level,” he said, as quoted by Het Belang van Limburg.

“If you can be there in matches against Manchester City or Liverpool, that means something, because they are top clubs in Europe.”

When asked whether his status has changed after shining for Brighton, Trossard explained: “Yes, yes. One comes with the other. I’ve made a lot of progress in recent years and when you perform well in the Premier League it is noticed and appreciated.”
