Leeds United are looking to sign an U21 left-back in the winter market.

That’s according to Radio Marca Valencia, who say the profile of Jesús Vázquez is ‘liked’ by the Whites. Plaza Deportiva have relayed it and then provided their own information about him.

The 19-year-old has changed agents and is now managed by Leaderbrock Sports. His new agents have recently been to England, Italy and the Netherlands to test the market to move some of their clients in January.

Inter Milan and AZ Alkmaar are the two clubs named as Vázquez’s suitors from the Serie A and the Eredivisie respectively.

The two clubs continue to monitor him, with the former viewing the Spaniard as a cheaper option to Villarreal’s Alfonso Pedraza to replace Robin Gosens. Both sides will be joined by Leeds United in the chase for Los Ches fullback.

Inter sporting director Piero Ausilio will call Valencia in the next few hours for Vázquez, since their interest in him is firm. Inter plan to sign the defender on a loan deal with an obligation to buy.

Leeds United may be able to get ahead of Inter and other clubs in the chase by paying a transfer fee to Valencia in the winter market.

Vázquez had 149 minutes of action across four matches this season. There is a clause in his contract that allows him to leave Mestalla if he fails to get certain number of minutes before the next transfer window reopens.

Having failed to meet the minimum threshold so far, the report explains the left-back can exercise this option. Vázquez’s situation at Valencia is unlikely to improve since José Gayà and Toni Lato are ahead of him.

With Leeds one of the clubs in the picture, Jesse Marsch’s side could convince Vázquez to join them in January by taking advantage of his clause.
