The signing of Tim Krul from Newcastle United seems to remain on the table for Benfica. He’s one of two Dutchman the Eagles have on their list for the end of the market.

According to A Bola on Saturday, the Portuguese side are giving youngster Bruno Varela some faith, but continue working on finding another goalkeeper.

PSV’s Jeroen Zoet remains the top target for them, but despite the player’s wish to leave the Dutch club, Benfica are still having some difficulty to agree a fee for him.

Newcastle’s Krul is also said to want the move, which is no surprise, and would even accept to receive a lower salary at Benfica just to play for a Champions League club.

A Bola claims that Newcastle don’t want to sell him for less than £5m, but Krul would rely on his many years at the club to convince them to sell for much less, with a fee of €1.5m mentioned.
