Agent Ivan Reggiani has told the Italian media ‘concrete offers’ have come in from both Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur to sign Club Brugge defender Bjorn Engels.

The 22 year old has been linked with a move to the Premier League in recent seasons, and there have been reports over the past week that Stoke City are interested in the player.

Speaking to Calciomercato, Reggiani was asked about Sampdoria’s reported interest in Engels, and whether the 22 year old would be heading to Serie A: “I see him more in the Premier League, he’s a player I would definitely invest in, because he still has a relatively affordable figure, about €10m. I wouldn’t think twice.

“The only problem, as I know, is that both Arsenal and Tottenham have already made concrete offers. I think at the moment with Sampdoria there is no history for the player.”

There were claims last summer of an offer from Arsenal for Engels, but a little digging from Sport Witness found out it was almost certainly nonsense.

Reggiani may be stretching his knowledge to claim Arsenal or Tottenham have made a concrete offer for the Belgian U21 international, and Engels probably isn’t at the required standard for either club just yet.

It would be a surprise if either Tottenham or Arsenal are targeting Engels during the current window. The only recent reports of a move to England have been focused on Stoke City, and even they didn’t seem particularly strong.

Every window Engels seems to be pushed towards the English market, usually without much reason.
