Huddersfield Town defender Mathias Jørgensen, widely known as Zanka, has a contract with the club which expires in June 2020.

The coming summer will be a time for decision making and Zanka will have to choose between renewing his Terriers contract, leaving the club for a fee, or trying to run down the final year of contract to become a free agent.

Clearly happy to openly speak about his plans, Denmark’s Fyens quote the player as saying: “Larger Premier League clubs are of course a goal. I will reach as high a level as possible. This summer I have a year left of my contract and then we have to talk some things through.

“It’s something both the club and I are conscious of. But there is a lot of time before the summer, so a lot of things can happen.”

Zanka doesn’t just want any just any move, though, and Fyens explain that he’s not going to transfer to a club who don’t count on him, bench warming isn’t going to be part of the plan.

It’s not clear whether the 28 year old Huddersfield Town player is putting the idea out in the public domain to pressure his club into offering a good new deal, or whether he really believes a move upwards in the Premier League is possible.
