Manchester United signing Henrikh Mkhitaryan during the summer transfer has largely been a waste of time up to now. Jose Mourinho hasn’t been convinced by the player, and he’s simply not had enough chances to show what he can do for Manchester United.

Despite being marginalised at Old Trafford, Mkhitaryan is absolutely crucial to his country, but it’s difficult for the player to go from hardly playing at all to pushing hard for a full 90 minutes in an international match. Still, that’s what he’s done for Armenia.

Losing 2-0 to Montenegro, Armenia managed to pull the match back to 3-2, and of course Mkhitaryan was important. Speaking after the match the Manchester United player explained it was difficult to play the full game given his lack of matches.

ArmSport quote him as saying: “Of course, it’s physically hard, but the important thing is I really wanted to (play), I was trying to fight to the end. I could not leave the team in the middle of the road and think that everything is lost, there is no hope. I tried everything to help the team and play to the end.”

It’s a mystery just what is going on between Mkhitaryan and Mourino, but if he’s not in the manager’s plans soon then rumours will inevitably start about a quick Manchester United exit. Things can change very quickly indeed, and Mkhitaryan appears to have kept a good attitude throughout, there’s been no huge complaints via the media.
