As Botafogo prepare to play Crystal Palace in a friendly, there’s a specific player having special feelings about that match.

That’s Lucas Perri, who spent a few months at the Premier League side in 2019, while on loan from São Paulo.

Now playing for Botafogo, the goalkeeper will have a new chance to visit the Selhurst Park side and maybe even prove himself against his former club.

With the Brazilian squad getting prepared for the trip to England, they’ve all been speaking to their official channels about that little tour, so Lucas Perri had a word about his expectations for the friendly against Crystal Palace.

“I am very happy to be able to return to a place where I stayed for six months, where I had many experiences and evolved a lot,” said Perri (via Fogão Net).

“It is an opportunity to grow. In the time I was there I evolved a lot, I learned a lot not only as a player but also as a person. It will be an opportunity to play against a Premier League team, in a sensational stadium, I’m sure they will be very good memories that we will take with us for the rest of our lives.”

The Brazilian season has already come to an end, and the only reason why Botafogo are travelling to Europe is because they’re owned by Crystal Palace share owner John Textor.

The businessman wants his two clubs facing each other, so the World Cup break was the perfect timing for that to happen.

Even though the Eagles may not take that friendly so seriously, that’s the opposite at the Fogão, as their players even have the hope of drawing the attention from the English club.
