With clubs announcing they will not let players of countries from the red list join their national teams for the upcoming international games, there’s obviously a big reaction going on.

South America have World Cup Qualifiers match taking place next week, so countries like Brazil, who have nine Premier League players in their squad, now wait for FIFA to decide whether they can count on footballers who play in England or not.

Chelsea defender Thiago Silva was interviewed by outlet Globo Esporte to talk about it today. The defender, who has 98 caps for the national team, was expecting to reach a big milestone in the next international break, but may be stopped now.

“The clubs are talking directly with FIFA and CBF to try to find a solution for this moment. Hopefully they can find a way to have this release so that we can represent our country,” the Chelsea player told Globo Esporte.

“In fact, clubs don’t have much to do, it’s up to governments, not necessarily the clubs. But it sucks. Our hands are tied, not knowing what to do at this point, because it’s really not an easy situation. It’s the first time we’ve gone through a similar situation, but I hope it’s resolved in the best way. Because there are nine from the Premier League, right. It’s difficult.”

Brazil are about to face Chile, Argentina and Peru in the next rounds of the Qualifiers, and in case Thiago Silva gets to his 100th appearance, he’ll join the list which only includes Robinho, Taffarel, Lucio, Neymar, Daniel Alves, Roberto Carlos and Cafu.
