For the past few days, it’s been rather clear that West Ham United are considering a move for Gaëtan Laborde.

The Hammers are trying to find themselves more attacking support, with players such as the Frenchman and CSKA Moscow’s Nikola Vlasic mentioned, and there was even an expectation they could make an offer for the former in the near future.

There’s not been an echo of that being done yet, but France Bleu hint that their patient game might bite them in the backside if they aren’t too careful.

The French radio station explain Laborde is ‘still on West Ham’s list’, but they are now facing new competition from Lyon.

In fact, the Ligue 1 side reached out on Tuesday to ask Montpellier ‘if the €20m (bonuses included) asked for the 27-year-old were negotiable’.

It’s not made clear what their answer was, but it’s something for West Ham to keep in mind, as they look to add extra men to their squad despite being top of the Premier League table after two games.
