Aston Villa have identified Matias Soulé as one of their targets to replace Nicolò Zaniolo in the summer window, according to Tuttosport.
The Premier League side signed the Italy international on loan from Galatasaray and had an obligation to make his stay permanent if certain set conditions are met.
That won’t be the case and Zaniolo is expected to leave Aston Villa at the end of this season.
This has seen the Villans look for options in the market and they seem to have specifically set their sights on Soulé.
The 21-year-old Argentine has impressed for Frosinone since joining them on a loan deal from Juventus last summer. Operating mainly on the right wing, he’s scored 11 goals and registered three assists from 32 league games this season.
His impressive performances haven’t gone unnoticed in England, where Aston Villa have become the latest club to send their officials to watch the South American live in action for Frosinone.
Soulé’s deal at Juve lasts until 2026 and Tuttosport explain that if they were to receive a bid around €40m, it will be difficult for the Turin club to resist.
It’s not clear whether Aston Villa are ready to spend €40m on Soulé in the next window, and they could probably get him for a little cheaper.
