Things seem to be moving very quickly now on Joelinton to Newcastle United.

After the German media preferred to talk down the deal, they’re now very much doing the opposite.

First Kicker claimed the 22 year old had been pulled of Hoffenheim’s squad, for a friendly on Wednesday afternoon, because he’s in talks to join the Premier League club.

They estimated a deal would be worth around €40m.

Bild, Germany’s biggest newspaper, now simply report ‘He moves to Newcastle United’.

They explain the Magpies, along with two other clubs had wanted the Brazilian during the winter market. There were then claims Newcastle could agree a deal in advance to get the player for €60m this summer.

Now they reckon it’s happening, and originally reported the value of the deal at €55m, but then quickly changed that to ‘over €40m’.

That of course doesn’t sound very like Newcastle at the moment, given their spending, or lack of it, in recent windows, but there’s a growing confidence in Germany that this one is getting close to being a reality.
