By far the best team in Scotland these days, Celtic have somewhat struggled in Europe, but that hasn’t stopped the club’s fans from being lauded by the European press.

Always seen as one of the best parts of the club from an outside perspective, the Scottish Premiership champions’ supporters have been declared ‘the best in Europe’ by FIFA, and RMC Sport give a long list of reasons why this was the right decision.

Number one? “You’ll Never Walk Alone”, which the French outlet state ‘is never sung with as much enthusiasm as it is in Celtic Park’.

The noise the fans generate throughout an entire game is also one of the reasons listed by RMC Sport, with fair-play coming next.

The old stereotypes seem long gone, with Celtic fans now often seen respecting their opponents, as was the case during their 5-0 loss to Paris Saint-Germain, complimenting their opponents and swapping scarves and songs at the end of the game.

Their humour also comes up, exemplified by their “10 in a row” song when they were 3-0 down against Bayern Munich in the Champions League.

David Edgar’s charity bike rides to every league away game for the Celtic Foundation haven’t gone unnoticed either.

Of course, every fan base has its idiots, like the Celtic fan who tried to kick Kylian Mbappé during the Paris Saint-Germain game, but few will disagree with FIFA’s decision.
