Spending a some time in England via a spell with Leicester City, Vicente Iborra is clearly the man to ask about Harry Maguire.

At least, that’s what Radio MARCA thought, as what Pep Guardiola does is of huge interest in Spain, and one of the main stories surrounding Manchester City and the former Barcelona manager is their reported interest in the England international.

Potentially needing a centre-back, although less so than their local rivals, the Premier League champions are reportedly after Maguire, a transfer that, should it happen, would probably be very expensive.

That being said, Iborra believes it would be completely worth it, just like the last time the record fee for a centre-back was broken.

He said: “He’s an incredible player. He’s very powerful, with good balance, great at bringing the ball out and he can score goals. He had a great World Cup and is a super footballer. His transfer to Manchester City could be like Van Dijk’s to Liverpool.”

Fees of €100m have been reported as being needed to prise Maguire away from Leicester, who have no intention of selling their star, and it remains to be seen if anyone will test that in the coming months.

With Aymeric Laporte and John Stones already on the team, the Foxes’ defender isn’t an absolute need for Manchester City, but if Pep Guardiola really wants someone, the Premier League champions tend to cough up the money.
