Pedrinho: Agent reveals call about Chelsea offer
The agent of Brazilian youngster Pedrinho has revealed he’s received a call from someone claiming to represent Chelsea, who dangled an offer for the 18-year-old.
The Blues’ interest was first reported in Brazil on Tuesday, with claims the English club had already made the first contacts to become aware of the player’s situation.
Now speaking to Sport Witness, Pedrinho’s representative Will Dantas shared a little more information.
“I became aware of this club through someone else,” Dantas, told Sport Witness “Some people are calling me and saying they are from this or that club, including with some bids. But for me what counts is the one who comes with a written offer and puts it on the table. So far, it hasn’t happened.”
“A guy called saying he was from this club [Chelsea] and that he’d have an offer that cannot be refused, but others also called saying to be from Atletico Madrid and Barcelona. However, there’s nothing concrete so far, maybe because I told everyone I’d only sit to talk after the Cup.”
Pedrinho has come to prominence this month as he’s taking part in Brazil’s biggest youth tournament, the Copa São Paulo de Juniores, and doing well. As he plays for Corinthians, the most victorious club in the competition, the attention around Pedrinho’s team is more than for most.
The advanced midfielder has played a crucial part in the club’s campaign, and will now take part in the final tonight against Batatais. The tournament is a big showcase for clubs and agents, since more than a hundred sides take part and all the youngsters have a chance to show their talents.
European scouts are present every year, and it seems that Pedrinho’s performances have caught their attention this time. It sounds very much like intermediaries are trying to build deals to present to clubs, and those directly representing the most talented youngsters.
Should Pedrinho impress in the final then it’s likely his agent Will Dantas will be hearing more about offers from clubs including Chelsea.
