Belgium’s Voetbal Primeur got to the point last week when they explained Kevin Mirallas hasn’t been able to impress Everton fans with his performances, but was able to do so by lighting his Christmas tree in blue and sharing the image on Instagram.

Everton manager Ronald Koeman had annoyed some fans with his red themed Christmas decorations, so Mirallas made sure to have a blue edge.

There had been worry last week in Belgium that a lack of top performances from Mirallas, coupled with Koeman’s interest in Manchester United’s Memphis Depay, could leave the Belgian pushed into a corner at Everton, and ending up with a lack of minutes.

A single goal and a single assist this season for Mirallas would put questions marks over his place if Everton did recruit in January, and Belgium newspaper DH believe his performance against Watford at the weekend was so poor it marked him as by far the worst of Belgium’s best known exports.

Giving Mirallas 4/10, DH reckon he hardly featured in the match, and they worry he could be set to lose his place. It’s maybe a little harsh on Mirallas, with Everton stuttering generally, but the Depay issue will certainly create doubt for the 29 year old if Koeman can get his man.
