With Chelsea not letting Michy Batshuayi move to Monaco, the race is open for other clubs to try to sign the Belgian striker, who’s on loan at Valencia.

Spanish outlet Marca reports today that two sides are still interested in taking the player from Valencia. They would be Everton and Genoa.

The website claims the Toffees are now aware of the possible departure of Idrissa Gueye, and have raised some interest in bringing Bathusayi to replace him in the squad, although certainly not in position… although that may be fun.

Genoa would sign Batshuayi to replace Krzysztof Piatek, who has just joined AC Milan.

Batshuayi is said to be ready to leave Valencia, where he will have no chances under Marcelino. However, the interested clubs must find a deal with Chelsea first.

Unlike El Desmarque, who claims the Blues are taking revenge on Monaco, Marca believes that the French side have failed to sign Bathusayi because Chelsea only want a permanent deal.

Now Monaco’s chances are probably even smaller, since manager Thierry Henry has been suspended by the club.

Genoa are unlikely to pay Chelsea’s asking price, so it’s over to Everton.

Marco Silva has played down talk of signings, but if some money should come in then it makes some sense for some to also go out, at least that’s how supporters will see it.

Should cash genuinely be short, then there’s always the possibility of a loan with redemption obligation.
