Manchester City beat champions Liverpool 4-1 at Anfield on Sunday, to see them go ten points clear of the Reds in the Premier League table.

Pep Guardiola’s men also have a game in hand, and it’s widely considered to now be their title to lose, with Manchester United five points back having played a game more.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side could only manage a 3-3 draw with Everton at the weekend, despite a good attacking performance and a brilliant goal from Bruno Fernandes. Ultimately, mistakes at the back a shaky performance from David De Gea cost Manchester United the three points and it makes their own title challenge look difficult.

Jurgen Klopp spoke after the defeat and admitted his Liverpool team are now aiming for the top four, and subsequent qualification for the Champions League.

The match was big news around the European sport, with Marca and Gazzetta dello Sport going as far as to produce player ratings for each team.

Marca feel Manchester City are very much on their way to the title, and that Liverpool are wobbling. In their ratings, three of Klopp’s players failed to get a mark at all. Those were Alisson, Fabinho and Firmino.

The Reds manager also got the same treatment.

For Marca, the best performers were Ilkay Gundogan, Phil Foden and Raheem Stirling.

Gazzetta dello Sport gave Liverpool a rating of 5, and Manchester City 8.

They agreed with Marca over Foden being a star of the show, and named Allison as the worst performer on the pitch.
