According to reports in the Italian media AC Milan have stepped up their pursuit of Fiorentina forward Nikola Kalinic.

The Croatian international looks set to leave the Viola this summer, and in recent days he’s again been linked with a move to Everton.

TMW today report AC Milan have made an approach for Kalinic, following claims Everton were looking to move in on the player. With Fiorentina on the verge of signing Genoa forward Giovanni Simeone, it could mean Kalinic becomes surplus to requirements with the Serie A side.

It’s been claimed the Serie A giants are close to a deal to sign the forward, and are ready to part with €25m for Kalinic.

The Fiorentina forward always preferred a move to the San Siro over a transfer to Everton, and it seems he will get his wish.

TMW say Everton are now on ‘standby’, forced to wait and see what happens with Milan, ahead of what’s predicted will be a ‘decisive’ week in the transfer window.

Everton have been linked with a move for Kalinic throughout the summer window, but doubts can be put on how much the Premier League side actually wanted the 29 year old. Everton have been linked with a string of players this summer, an increased number thanks to their new found transfer wealth.
