Barcelona continue to have more financial issues than they really should. A huge wage bill is way too high in relation to income and last summer the club failed to sell most of the players they’d earmarked for departure.
A big fee came in for Neymar but the signings of Ousmane Dembele and Philippe Coutinho dwarfed that amount.
This summer, before they get around to signing fresh targets including Antoine Griezmann, Barcelona really need to shed the fat.
On Wednesday, Mundo Deportivo have a look at the players the Catalan club really need to sell and include Gerard Deulofeu, currently on loan at Watford, in their list.
Deulofeu is one of a number of players, with others including Andre Gomes and Denis Suarez, who Barcelona will have to sell in order to help finance their summer moves.
A summer transfer for those players is presented as a near certainty, as long as Barcelona get their way.
That gives Watford the opportunity to turn their Deulofeu loan into a permanent move.
A recent foot injury has halted the 24 year old’s settling in at Watford and how he performs between now and the end of the season will be crucial for the player’s future.
