Around a week ago, claims started of Jairo Riedewald being on the verge of leaving Crystal Palace for Celta Vigo.
There was much confidence in the Galician media, and it felt like a matter of time before the transfer was confirmed.
The player had given his agreement to a loan move, and the transfer looked likely to work on the basis of a loan with a purchase option for Celta.
Now things have changed, with La Voz de Galicia and others local to Celta reporting the deal has collapsed, and Riedewald could now move to Betis instead this month.
There’s no explanation over why talks have collapsed, not even whether it’s down to the player’s terms or a disagreement between Celta Vigo and Crystal Palace.
Celta aren’t wasting any time, and have already flown Wesley Hoedt over and are working on closing his signing on loan with a right of purchase in the summer.
