Leeds United have been put on ‘red alert’ as Marseille are working behind the scenes to try and sign Manor Solomon.
That’s according to Team Football, who report that Marseille want to strengthen their forward options in the summer and the Leeds man is on their list.
Soloman has had an impressive season with Leeds as they’ve won the Championship and returned to the Premier League, with 10 goals and 12 assists in all competitions to his name.
He’s only at Leeds on loan, having joined from Tottenham last summer and that means there is a possibility he could depart Elland Road this summer.
He does not appear to be in Tottenham’s long-term plans and Marseille have already started concrete negotiations with his entourage about a move.
Team Football report that the Tottenham loanee’s playing style, vision and ability to play on both sides, all demonstrated at Leeds this season, please Roberto de Zerbi, who is also impressed by his defensive work.
He is looking for a replacement for Luis Henrique, who appears destined to join Inter Milan, and sees Solomon as the ideal reinforcement who would fit into his system.
That’s put Leeds on red alert as they’d like to keep Solomon but know Tottenham can take advantage of his good season to sell him this summer. Solomon, for his part, is not closing any doors either.
“Yes, a great club in the south of France has inquired,” his entourage are reported saying when asked about the situation.
It remains to be seen what type of deal Marseille would offer but the interest is there, and they are working, based on the idea that Henrique is moving on.
Now we’ve not used Team Football as a source before so will take this with a pinch of salt for now, but Solomon is undoubtedly a name to keep an eye on for Leeds and Tottenham fans alike.
