Florian Wirtz has informed Bayer Leverkusen that he does not want to join Manchester City and will only move to Bayern Munich.
That’s according to BILD, who report that Wirtz is uninterested in joining Manchester City or Real Madrid this summer.
The newspaper reports that a move to Bayern Munich is becoming more and more likely, as he’s informed Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso he doesn’t want to move to Real Madrid or Manchester City.
They have both been credited with an interest in the forward for months, with reports making it clear that Manchester City would happily spend €100m plus to secure Wirtz’s signature.
He has now made it clear that he only wants Bayern, which BILD report must mean that the player and his family have a general agreement in place with the German champions. Wirtz’s father and agent Hans has a ‘very close wire’ to Uli Hoeneß.
Negotiations between the two sides are expected to pick up pace soon and Wirtz has been made the number one target. He has also made them his first choice and does not consider Manchester City as a ‘serious option’.
It seems they would be best spending their money, and effort, elsewhere, as getting Wirtz now appears to be a non-starter.
