Brazilian club Atlético Mineiro signed Emerson from Sao Paulo side Ponte Preta in April 2018.

The 20 year old right-back has impressed in his debut season with Mineiro and has made played over 2100 minutes across 25 matches in the Brasileirão, scoring one goal and adding an assist.

His form hasn’t gone unnoticed as several clubs in England and across Europe have shown interest in the defender.

Journalist Miguel Rico, writing for his column the last page of today’s edition of Mundo Deportivo covers Barcelona’s plans to sign the fullback.

To achieve this objective, the La Liga winners have used the help of Andre Cury to block the South American’s transfer.

Any approach from the Camp Nou outfit will see them face tough competition as the Brazilian’s agent has told Mundo Deportivo that there are 14 clubs who have made proposals.

The list includes three clubs from the Premier League, Liverpool, Arsenal and Watford, while the other suitors are Shakhtar Donetsk, Juventus, Inter Milan, Sampdoria, Sassuolo, Borussia Dortmund, Lille, FC Porto, Valencia and Real Betis.

Emerson’s contract with his current employer will run down in 2022.

Liverpool, Arsenal and Watford are all known to scout heavily in South America, with the Hornets especially working in recent windows to secure talent from Brazil.
