“Criticism makes him better” – ‘Great’ Chelsea player praised for being ‘mentally strong’, definitely needs to be

With nearly 400 goals scored at the age of 30, it’s already fair to say that Romelu Lukaku has had a remarkable career in European football.

Chelsea, the club he currently belongs to, is the one where he has the worst stats, while he managed to impress at many other clubs, leading to a lot of criticism in England.

That’s why the Belgian national team still have big hopes about him, and as DH Net today features an interview with Djibril Cissé, there are some interesting quotes about the Blues player.

The former French striker was asked whether Lukaku is a player he likes, and ended up highlighting some of his qualities.

“Very much so. He’s a great player who scores goals wherever he goes. He’s often been criticised but mentally he’s a strong guy. It seems that criticism makes him better and that’s very strong,” said Cissé.

Lukaku is currently loaned by Chelsea to AS Roma, and so far, has 18 goals and four assists in 37 appearances.

It’s still uncertain whether the Giallorossi will make a big effort to get him permanently signed at the end of the season, as it all depends on how much the Blues will demand for his departure.

In case of a return to Chelsea, Lukaku still has a contract with the Stamford Bridge side running until 2026.
