Barcelona will likely be keeping a close eye on Junior Firpo’s situation at Leeds United in the summer as they’re due 20% of any sale.

That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who say the full back is one of several players that Barcelona have clauses on following their exits from the Nou Camp.

Firpo joined Leeds in a €15m deal from Barcelona in July 2021, having moved from Real Betis in a €20m deal in August 2019 after impressing at the Spanish club.

He’s been unable to establish himself at Elland Road, though, making just 47 appearances since his arrival.

This season in particular he had found himself out of the picture under Jesse Marsch, starting the season out of the squad with a knee injury and then returning to sit on the bench.

He’s featured more under Javi Gracia, but it has been reported he wants to leave Leeds in the summer regardless as he wants to join a club playing in Europe.

That report stated a €10m switch could be on the cards and if that were to happen it appears Barcelona would also be set to benefit.

Mundo state that Leeds ‘must also pay 20%’ to the Catalans if they are to transfer the defender out of Elland Road this summer.

Whether that happens remains to be seen but Barcelona are certainly hoping it will as they need all the money they can scrape together given their financial situation.

They, therefore, will be watching what goes on with an interest in the hope they can benefit from the potential sale.
