Sorry, Arsenal fans, but Theo Walcott will not be going to Italy.

We know you were fully behind this, and he apparently was too, considering he’s the one who offered himself to the Serie A club in the first place, but, unfortunately, they’ve said no.

This is what Corriere dello Sport on report in a small box hidden at the bottom of page 17 of their daily print edition.

According to the Italian newspaper, AC Milan didn’t feel he offered anything ‘useful’, at least not enough for them to agree to pay his wages and give him the time on the pitch he required ahead of the World Cup in Russia.

This means, as has already been reported in  England, Everton are now the likeliest to sign the former Southampton starlet, even if the Saints were said to also hold an interest in bringing back their now 28-year-old prodigy.

Back when the story first appeared, Corriere dello Sport did warn everyone the fact Walcott offered himself didn’t mean the club would say yes, and they were right.
