Last week Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport reported Pedro Obiang is back on the agenda of Fiorentina.

It was explained the West Ham player is ‘back in fashion’ and Obiang’s attributes were talked up, with some flattery sent the way of the Spaniard.

Leaving Sampdoria for West Ham in 2015, Obiang still has a high rating in Italy and that’s led to countless claims of a return to Serie A.

The Fiorentina claims don’t want to go away, and on Sunday Calciomercato have a snippet saying the club ‘insist’ on the signing.

It still looks an unlikely prospect unless David Moyes has identified a replacement and can sign that player first.

Obiang is a used member of the West Ham squad, playing 90 minutes against Huddersfield Town at the weekend, and impressing in the 4-1 victory, so there doesn’t seem a great reason to sell.

Fiorentina wouldn’t be willing to pay a big transfer fee, and Obiang only signed a renewal with West Ham in the summer, taking his contract to 2022.
