On Friday morning, Catalan outlet Mundo Deportivo featured a story saying Barcelona should only sign one winger this summer. That’d be either Ousmane Dembélé or Leeds United’s Raphinha.

The Frenchman’s contract with the Camp Nou side expired at the end of June, and although he’s been a free agent for a few days, his return to the club is very much possible.

Meanwhile, Barcelona continue trying to reach a deal with Leeds United for the signing of Raphinha. But they remain short after offering only €50m for the signing, as Premier League clubs already put more on the table.

Now it turns out that in a new update from Mundo Deportivo, it’s claimed that Dembélé is getting closer to a return to the La Liga giants.

It’s said the player and club reached the basis of agreement, and they’re just waiting for the green light from directors to confirm the deal. According to the story, ‘except for surprises’, he’ll sign a two-year contract with them.

This story doesn’t say anything about Raphinha, but considering the outlet’s previous information, it becomes a clear sign that Barcelona could be close to giving up on signing the Leeds United star, letting Chelsea or even Arsenal have an easier path to go and get him.
