Burnley have seen a bid for PSV Eindhoven forward Johan Bakayoko rejected by the Dutch club this morning.

That’s according to journalist Sacha Tavolieri, who say PSV are refusing to sanction a deal before the second leg of their Champions League qualifying clash with Rangers.

Bakayoko has been heavily linked with a move away from PSV over the last two weeks, with several Premier League sides thought to be keen on the youngster.

Burnley are one of them and it was reported yesterday that they had submitted an offer worth €20-25m for the player.

PSV had not responded to that bid at that moment in time, with it made clear they were focused on their Champions League qualifying games with Rangers before dealing with transfers.

It seems there has now been progress, with Tavolieri reporting that Burnley’s first bid was rejected ‘this Friday morning’ by PSV.

It seems Burnley will need to up their offer, but even if they do so, they will find PSV uninterested in negotiating as Tavolieri once again states they don’t want to let the player leave before the second leg against Rangers.

That’s scheduled for Wednesday next week so it seems Burnley will have be patient if they do want a deal for Bakayoko to take place.
