Nottingham Forest are trying to sign RC Strasbourg goalkeeper Matz Sels on the winter deadline day.

That’s according to journalist Sacha Tavolieri, who says the Premier League side are keen and are pushing to get this deal over the line.

Tavolieri further claims Nottingham Forest have tabled a €7m bid with bonuses included. A contract until 2027 is ready for the stopper, who is keen on joining the Tricky Trees in the next few hours.

According to the journalist, the Ligue 1 side are ‘ready to accept’ the English club’s offer, as long as they can bring in a replacement for the 31-year-old.

If not, the Belgium international won’t be moving to Nottingham Forest, even though he wants to grab this new opportunity.  Sels has made 19 appearances this season, keeping three clean sheets and conceding 24 goals in the process.

Nottingham Forest have used both Matt Turner and Odysseas Vlachodimos this season. The duo apparently haven’t convinced Nuno Espírito Santo, resulting in a late move for Sels.

Should the Belgian arrive, he could immediately become the first-choice stopper at the City Ground.
