Even before the news emerged that Arsenal were interested in terminating the contract of Nicolas Pépé, Besiktas were interested.

The Turkish side have targeted the Ivory Coast international after it was made clear his future wasn’t going to be at the Emirates, and the reports that he could be allowed to leave on a free made their day.

That has yet to happen, but that hasn’t stopped Besiktas from working behind the scenes, as Fanatik claim they have ‘reached an agreement’ with Pépé himself.

They ‘shook hands’ with him over the salary he would earn in Turkey should he move, but since he is still contracted to Arsenal for now, no transfer has taken place.

Pépé, should he complete a move to Besiktas, would sign a three-year contract with a wage of €2.5m/year plus bonuses, and it’s said the team ‘expect the player’s agent to keep him promise’.

In fact, the representative even made them a promise that the winger would be available for free after his contract is terminated.

However, they aren’t the only ones sniffing an opportunity, as it’s said that Fenerbahçe are now also on the case, and have ‘contacted the player’.

Something to keep an eye on.
