Hoffenheim are on the verge of completing a deal for Burnley striker Wout Weghorst on a season-long loan.

That’s according to BILD, who say the striker will be returning to the Bundesliga after his loan spell at Manchester United last season.

The newspaper reports that Hoffenheim are set to pull off a ‘transfer cracker’ and secure themselves a ‘great new signing’ in the form of the Dutch striker.

According to their information, the German club have managed to grab Weghorst from Burnley, who seemingly have no plans for the 31-year-old this season.

Instead, they’re willing to sanction another loan for the striker and Hoffenheim have jumped in, ready to take him as they’ve been searching for a new centre forward for some time.

They’re not perturbed by Weghorst’s struggles with Manchester United last season, where he failed to score a single goal in 17 Premier League games between January and the end of the season and only played 90 minutes on three separate occasions.

Instead, they’ve pushed ahead and struck a deal with Burnley, with Weghorst’s absence from their friendly against Mainz on Saturday seen as a clear sign he’s set to depart for the Bundesliga.

The striker has a strong history in the competition after shining for Wolfsburg earlier in his career and will be hoping he can return to that this year and put the disappointment of Burnley and Manchester United firmly behind him.
