For Nottingham Forest fans, the name Nicolao Dumitru isn’t one that is likely to incite excitement following the Italian forward’s spell on loan at the Championship club.

Just about escaping relegation to League One thanks to a 3-0 win over Ipswich Town on Sunday, Forest will not be renewing the 25-year-old’s loan deal, having already sent him back to Italy after a relatively poor season.

Making just 12 appearances in all competitions over the course of the campaign, the winger scored just the one goal in a 3-1 loss to Newcastle back in December.

Not playing since a 2-0 loss to Wigan in January, Dumitru might have been a flop at City Ground, but his time in England could prove very valuable for Napoli, who are looking to move him on, and make some money in the process.

According to Il Mattino, the Serie A side will try to get around €1m for the player, who has only made 12 appearances for Napoli in the six or so years he has been at the club.

Considering they spent £1.28m on him in the first place, his time at the club will go down as a failure, yet if they can recoup any of that, it’ll be a win.

Just ask Nottingham Forest fans.
