Flamengo are interested in signing Nottingham Forest midfielder Gustavo Scarpa, according to claims from Brazil.

UOL writes that the Rio de Janeiro club made an approach for the player, but their contact wasn’t met positively.

The outlet claims Scarpa wants to stay in England, where despite a difficult first season at Nottingham Forest, he wants to prove that he can play at a high level.

It’s said the midfielder is currently ‘fulfilling his dream’ by playing in the Premier League, and wants to stay there until the end of his contract with the Reds, which lasts until 2026.

Not long ago, when it was said Scarpa could return to Palmeiras this summer, the Brazilian press had already claimed that he wouldn’t give up on English football so soon.

The 29-year-old joined Nottingham Forest as a free agent in January. Besides the tough adaptation, he struggled with injuries and personal problems in his first months at the club, and that’s why he only has ten appearances for the Reds so far.
