After having his transfer to Rangers confirmed, Cyriel Dessers now speaks to his home country’s media about the move, and his plans for a potential celebration against Celtic.

Dutch outlet Voetbal International today feature an interesting interview with the 28-year-old, where he gives some details on this switch and shares his excitement about the move to Michael Beale’s side and Ibrox.

Dessers had played in the Netherlands and Belgium before arriving in Italy last year, when signed for Creomonese on a €6.5m deal.

Now before taking Rangers’ offer, he claims he actually had the chance to move back to those leagues, and ended up choosing Glasgow instead.

“I had some options to stay in Italy, there were also some options to return to Belgium or the Netherlands,” Dessers told Voetbal International.

Following his arrival at Rangers, Dessers insists he’s excited about the environment he found about the club. He’s also glad that people having been doing their best for him to understand them.

“But Rangers is so big. And something beautiful is happening here. I look at the players out there, at the manager, who has a very clear vision of what he wants on and off the pitch. I look at the training complex, the stadium, the professionalism… In the end it was a fairly easy choice.

“I had to listen carefully, but I do feel like they are doing their best when they speak to me. When they talk to each other here, it is a lot harder to understand.”

Dessers even has some dreams about his time at Rangers, as he looks forward to the matches against Celtic.

“Celebrating at the corner flag during the Old Firm, that would be great!”

Featuring for Cremonese, Dessers left a record of seven goals and two assists in 29 appearances. Following his season in Italy, Rangers decided to spend €5m on his signing.
