Leeds United have made a bid for Basel striker Arthur Cabral, according to reports at the weekend.

Brazilian outlet Globo Esporte says the 22-year-old emerged as one of Marcelo Bielsa’s targets for the coming season, and the Whites are offering €18m for his signing.

Even though Basel are ‘pulling the rope’ and trying to get €20m, they see the sale ‘with good eyes’. It’s said the bid is of €15m upfront plus €3m in bonuses.

Globo Esporte claims that Arthur Cabral is excited with the possibility of playing in the Premier League. He scored 19 goals in 39 games for Basel this season.

The report says the negotiations are being handled by agent Paulo Pitombeira, who previously worked on a deal with Marcelo Bielsa, since he was the one who took Thiago Mendes to Lille in 2017.

Globo Esporte also says there’s some divergence regarding the player’s rights. Basel own 70%, and the rest is split between Brazilian sides Palmeiras and Ceará. However, since Leeds United are bidding for 100%, this is not the Premier League side’s problem.
