According to Turkish newspaper Aksam, Besiktas are interested in signing Chelsea midfielder Danny Drinkwater ahead of the January transfer window.

The English midfielder was loaned to Burnley in the summer for six months, but he’s managed to play just 59 minutes of Premier League football, mainly due to injuries.

Aksam report Burnley won’t keep the player beyond January and Besiktas are said to be interested in his services. The Turkish side are reportedly preparing a 18-month loan offer for the 29 year old.

Besiktas board member Erdal Torunougllari is directing the transfer operation and the final decision will be made by Black Eagles’ manager Abdullah Avci.

It’s reported the Chelsea owned midfielder is seen as an ideal player for Besiktas, as they want to strengthen their midfield in the January transfer window.

The former Leicester City man looks surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge and he may need to move. Drinkwater’s contract with Chelsea will expire at the end of June 2022.
