Inter Milan are hoping that Racing Club midfielder Carlos Alcaraz will resist the ‘courtship’ from Wolverhampton Wanderers as they try to sign him themselves.

That’s according to Corriere dello Sport, who cover the situation around the midfielder today and how Inter’s hesitancy has opened up the door for other suitors.

They explain that simply identifying new talent before the competition is no longer enough, clubs also need the possibility to invest and take the ‘risk’.

This is something they learned with defender Alan Matturro, who they had their hands on and eventually lost to Genoa.

They want to avoid a similar situation with Alcaraz, who was approved by scout Dario Baccin during a trip to South America at the end of October.

He’s available for €15m, or €12m plus a percentage on any future sale, but at the moment Inter’s hands are tied and that has opened up the opportunity for other clubs again.

Wolves are one of those in the mix, having been linked with a move since last month when it was stated they’d been following him since May.

Several reports have put them in the mix since, with the last at the end of the month stating they were ‘serious and concrete’.

It seems they remain on the case and Corriere state that Inter are hoping the player will ‘resist the courtship’ from Wolves and Porto in the coming months.

What the extent of Wolves’ courtship is, isn’t mentioned, but given they’ve been heavily linked with a move for a month or so and Julen Lopetegui is pushing for signings, so it wouldn’t be a stretch to suggest they’ve been in contact.

Whatever lengths they’ve gone to, Inter Milan are certainly worried about it, with it even suggested they may turn to Azzedine Ounahi as an alternative.
