Club reaches verbal agreement with Leicester player – Want Foxes to ‘accept very low amount’ for January deal

On Tuesday, AS explained Atlético Madrid want to sign Leicester City’s Çağlar Söyüncü in the winter market.

The Turkey international has six months left on his contract and reports continue to push him towards the La Liga side.

Mundo Deportivo now state Los Rojiblancos have reached a verbal agreement with the Leicester defender for him to arrive at the club as a free agent after this season.

There is a possibility for the Spanish club to take the 26-year-old in the ongoing window. To do this, two conditions must be met.

The first condition is that one of Atlético’s centre-backs must leave to make room for the Foxes player. Diego Simeone’s side are willing to let Felipe and Mario Hermoso leave in January.

Since Atlético could take Söyüncü for free later this year, they would only sign him this month if Leicester ‘accept a very low amount’. This is the second condition.

Brendan Rodgers hasn’t relied upon Söyüncü as he made two appearances this season. The defender has decided against signing a new deal. Therefore, Leicester could earn money through his sale in January to avoid seeing him leave for free next summer.
