Brazilian side Bahia are expecting an official offer from the City Football Group this week, according to local reports.

ESPN Brasil writes that following talks with Manchester City’s owners, there should be an ‘important step’ for the takeover in the coming days.

The story points out that Bahia have been ‘preparing the ground’ to receive the offer. That’s why they’ve been working to settle many debts, so they can use the new money to invest in their football department.

According to ESPN Brasil, the group who own Manchester City did not ask for this, but it’s seen as a way for the Brazilian side to show their commitment to this new project.

Bahia are set to have 90 days to accept City Group’s offer. The bid will first go through a provisory commission, then the deliberative council, and finally there’ll be a voting process.

Recent reports from Brazil claimed the plan is to make Bahia the second-biggest club in the City Group, only behind Manchester City. The initial investment is expected to be over £100m.
