Earlier this week, we covered news from Brazil regarding the future of Southampton defender Lyanco.

It was claimed by journalist Jorge Nicola that the player is considering a return to his home country, since he’s not getting a lot of playing time with the Saints, and needs more minutes on the pitch to keep alive his dream of featuring for the national team.

One of the clubs who were said to be interested in the Southampton defender was Vasco da Gama, who were recently taken over by investors and should make interesting signings following their promotion to the first division.

It turns out that as now reported by Globo Esporte, the Rio de Janeiro club are already working on these new arrivals. And as their director Paulo Bracks will fly to Europe in ‘coming days’ to handle several subjects, some transfer business will be worked on.

“The expectation is that Bracks will also take advantage of the trip to Europe to analyse possible reinforcements,” says Globo Esporte.

It isn’t yet clear whether Bracks will speak to Southampton about Lyanco, but that’s definitely the kind of signing they’d send a director for. Signed by the Saints in a €7.5m deal last year, the defender is now valued by Transfermarkt at €4m.
