It isn’t exactly news, but Moise Kean is of interest to AS Roma.

We won’t bore you with a recap of what has happened in the past, because if you’re reading this, you’re already aware of the situation following the Everton forward’s quarantine party.

It’s the reason why there are now daily stories in the Italian media about Kean possibly returning to his home country, yet it’s also a big worry for the clubs who are reportedly interested, with AS Roma being the main one.

Corriere dello Sport have yet another article on the situation, but this one felt worthwhile.

That’s because it’s revealed the Everton forward, while intriguing, also ‘divides’ the Serie A side.

It’s explained the ‘debate is lively’ within the club and its fanbase, and the main question remains ‘is it worth the risk for a footballer who, in a couple of seasons, has already earned the reputation of being a hothead’.

There are many pros to the deal, such as his age, his friendship with Nicolò Zaniolo, his versatility, and if he can be brought in on a loan with an obligation to buy after certain conditions are met, even better.

However, there are also the negatives, and Corriere write his CV is ‘as full of smudges as it is of amazing plays’, listing ‘from his vigorous reaction to the racist insults of Cagliari to the inappropriate party of which he was the main protagonist in Liverpool, passing through the shenanigans with Italy’s U21s in the company of Zaniolo’.

Having looked at social media to see what the consensus is, the newspaper suggest the main concern seems to be that if his football output was so phenomenal, ‘would Juventus have sold him for €27.5m when he was demonstrating his qualities’, leading to the very questionable question of ‘will he be the new Balotelli, for better or for worse’?

Basically, at this point in his career, investing heavily in Kean could be seen as a far bigger gamble than Everton’s original deal, since they signed him after a high rather than this particular low.

That’s why, with the Toffees likely intent to want most of their money back, the prospect of getting him on loan, to see how he fares, is very appealing.

Either way, ‘Roma need a young striker to work alongside Džeko to prepare for the succession’, and Kean remains top of the list for now, regardless of his situation.
