Yesterday we brought you a report from Spain regarding Real Murcia and their continued fight to get Middlesbrough to pay for Kike García.

The Spanish club have been chasing Boro for several years in the belief they are owed €1m for a clause that was part of his move back in 2017.

Middlesbrough, though, don’t feel they have to pay and have been holding the case up, despite FIFA ruling in Murcia’s favour back in November last year.

La Verdad explained that Murcia were expecting the whole affair to be settled by April next year after Middlesbrough’s tactics had stalled the process by six months.

They follow up on the story and explain what’s going on in a little more detail. According to them, FIFA are still dealing with the matter and both clubs are waiting on their verdict.

Middlesbrough don’t want to pay the money and are taking the issue through the appeals courts, thus explaining the hold-up.

However, Murcia are ‘convinced’ that the Championship side will end up paying the full amount in the end.

That is what they are hoping for anyway, with them in desperate need of money as the club is battling serious debt and owes money to the taxman.

It’s not explained why they’re so confident of getting the money, although it’s safe to assume it comes from the fact FIFA have already ruled in their favour previously.

Middlesbrough will be hoping that the governing body have changed their mind since then, although at this point it may have just been easier to pay the money given what they’ve likely spent on legal fees and the interest that’s been accumulating.
